OUR MATERIALS

Wondering what material your piece is made of?

Our jewelry is handmade, and we take great care with the materials we use. All our pieces undergo an anti-allergy treatment and are made of sterling silver, brass, and pewter. They are plated with 18-karat gold or 10-micron silver plating.

925 STERLING SILVER

925 Sterling Silver is an alloy composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper.

We rhodium-plated our silver jewelry, which gives it extra shine and durability. Rhodium is one of the most expensive precious metals due to its rarity. All our sterling silver pieces carry the "925" stamp.

BRASS

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and has a golden color. We coat all our brass pieces with 18kt gold plating.

TIN

Tin is a white metal alloy. We coat all our brass pieces with 18kt gold plating or 10-micron silver plating.

GOLD PLATED

Not to be confused with regular gold plating, our 18k gold plating is a thick layer of solid 18-karat gold, which means it will last longer and gives the appearance of solid gold jewelry. First, an 18kt gold coating is created, and the final layer is 24kt. The gold used in the electroplating process of our pieces is 100% recycled!

SILVER PLATING

Sterling silver-plated pieces tend to tarnish, so all of our sterling silver-plated jewelry is protected with an anti-tarnish solution to help prevent this, but this can wear off over time.

FRESHWATER PEARLS

We use cultured pearls from freshwater oysters and mussels that we carefully select for our pieces.

NATURAL GEMS

All our gems are natural and highly prized for their beauty, longevity, and rarity.

ENAMEL

Enameling is a technique in which a shiny substance, traditionally a type of glass, is applied to the surface of a metal or other hard surface. Traditional enamel is glass-based; however, we use cold enamel, also known as epoxy resin enamel, which does not contain glass. This type is much more durable and resistant to chipping, which can sometimes occur with daily use.

CERAMICS

Ceramic is an incredibly durable material made by taking mixtures of clay, earth elements, powders, and water and shaping them into the desired shape. Our ceramics are covered and/or protected with a waterproof, paint-like substance known as glaze.

GLASS / CRYSTAL

Glass is a delicate, versatile material with infinite colors and has been used in jewelry since ancient times. We use two types of glass in our artisanal crafts: Murano glass (originally from Italy) and Czech glass (originally from Bohemia).
